Caring for Cats

At Rocky Gorge, we want to give our clients all the information they need to ensure we keep our feline friends happy and healthy. 

Core Vaccines:

  • FVRCP - Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia
  • Rabies (required by law)

Additional Recommendations:

Our veterinarians may recommend a Feline Leukemia/FIV/Heartworm Test. This test is encouraged for outdoor cats, cats with a history of bite wounds, or stray(s). We also recommend annual intestinal parasite screenings. This test of your cat’s stool sample allows us to see if your cat is carrying any parasites, including roundworms and hookworms. These parasites are zoonotic which means they can be transmitted from your cat to a person. 

Bringing Home A Kitten

Make an appointment for your kitten to see a veterinarian when they are 6-8 weeks old. This is the best age to discuss topics pertinent to your kitten’s wellness, including how to acclimate them to your family.

Some things our medical team may recommend to help care for your kitten are:

  • Vaccinations

Looking After Older Cats

As your cat begins to mature into a young adult it is good to understand how rapidly they age compared to humans. As they grow older, we need to think about what preventative measures we can take to keep your cat healthy.

Terms for Wellness Plans at Rocky Gorge

Pet must be less than 6 months of age to sign up for puppy or kitten plan.

Exclusions listed in the contract are as follows:

– The 10% and 15% discount excludes: grooming, behavioral consultations, behavioral visits, all flea/tick and heartworm prevention products, certain pharmacy prescriptions, food, lab tests sent to special laboratories, doggy day care, grooming and resort retail products.

– Offer cannot be combined with other Discounts or Promotions.

– NO refunds or credits on treatments & non-medical services not utilized.
